J – 029 Is there any policy regarding a home-based family who never attends socializations?
There is no Head Start regulation that can force parents to participate, nor any that allows a child to be dropped from the program due to lack of parent participation. You should assess the reasons contributing to the parent’s non-participation and see what can be done to support attendance. The expectation regarding parent participation in group socializations and the benefits of that experience should be communicated to all families during recruitment, orientation, and ongoing parent education.
