I know of no reason why the mangosteens benefit should be denied to animals. I am not a veterinarian but I have spoken to many vets who use the product with their animal patients. Many drugs used in human fin useful applications in animal as well. I recently visited one of the most famous thoroughbred racing farms in Kentucky to discuss the beneficial results that trainers have seen from using the mangosteen in their horses. The fruits potent anti-inflammatory and other qualities, in my non-expert opinion, justify its use in animals where drugs would be the alternative.
