Ive upgraded to XP Pro and selecting Shutdown brings me to the “It is now safe…..” page and does not switch my PC off; any ideas?

Try this…go to the Device Manager and choose View. Then select Show Hidden Devices in System Devices. I think there will be a disabled device…just enable it and try to shutdown your PC….I think it will work because the same problem happened with me.
