Ive trained in another style – what rank am I at United Kempo? How will I progress?
Your rank in United Kempo is a direct reflection of your knowledge of Shaolin Kempo and American Kenpo. Experience in other styles can be helpful, but unless you have the required material for United Kempo, you can’t be placed at any rank above White Belt. However, it is important to note that the basics and fundamentals are often very similar in many styles. In this case, your progression is accelerated from White Belt on up to an appropriate level in United Kempo. Getting to Yellow Belt takes most students 2-4 months, but most students with prior experience take usually 6-8 weeks. Students with more experience in other arts can, in rare cases, skips ranks, eliminating the need for additional testing. Students who come to United Kempo with active ranks in other Kempo/Kenpo systems will be evaluated on an individual basis and placed appropriately with their experience and material level. They will then progress under the United Kempo curriculum.
