If you take a course which is not on the approved CSE list you can apply for the course to be approved as a CSE, but the chances of success are low (see the previous question). If credit is not granted, the course will become extra to the degree. Many of the approved CSE and science elective courses require prerequisites, and in some cases it would be difficult or impossible to take all the prerequisites. Is the implication that prerequisites in an approved elective course are waived for engineering students? The lists of allowed elective courses reflect the accreditation rules of the Professional Engineers of Ontario. There is no implication that prerequisites will be waived for engineering students.
