Rather than simply paying for conservation areas, the money raised from STARO’s Buy an Acre scheme is used to promote both the forest and the people living within it. STARO is seeking an end to deforestation through protecting areas of land and by introducing sustainable economic projects for the Amazon dwellers. The funds raised are also used to provide study grants for the land protected by STARO.
