Take Interstate 10 east to Winnie, then State Highway 73 to Port Arthur, then State Highway 82 over the Sabine Neches canal (MLK Bridge) onto Pleasure Island. When you come off the MLK Bridge, you will come to a T-intersection. Turn left at the T-intersection and drive south about 10 miles to the southern end of Pleasure Island. You will find Walter Umphrey State located to your right, just before State Highway 82 reaches the Texas-Louisiana Causeway. It offers lighted pier and bank fishing.
