Ive Java 1.4 installed in Mac OS X but I only get Java 1.3 in Firefox or Internet Explorer. Whats wrong?

Even if Java 1.4 is installed, it is only available in Safari and Firefox 1.5 and not in Internet Explorer or Firefox 1.0.x. This is a limitation of those browsers.
