During my youth, my parents had two vehicles which had been converted to run on both gasoline and propane. One was a 1979 Buick Skylark, which had a propane tank in the trunk. This didn’t work terribly well, and eventually, my parents converted in back to a gasoline-only vehicle, in order to get the trunk space back. The other was a 1975 Toyota pickup truck; in its case, the conversion worked out much better, and was left in place until some time a few years later, when my brother rolled it down the side of a mountain. It had a 40-gallon propane tank in the back, in addition to the stock 13-gallon gasoline tank. One one occasion, my father and I drove this truck nearly 800 miles without stopping for fuel. I would have to say, based on my limited experience, that for most vehicles, it probably isn’t worthwhile to convert them to propane. Even with gasoline prices as they are, there isn’t that much to be saved by running on propane instead; and there’s a lot of cost and complexity in mod
