No. Barletta engineered this “illegal immigrant crime wave” lie to try and cover up for the fact that as mayor, he cut the city’s police force in half. As a result, crime in Hazleton began to increase. However, crime data, released by the Hazleton Police Department, shows that out of all crimes committed in Hazleton since 2002, LESS THAN 1% of those crimes have been committed by illegal immigrants.
