Ive heard that child maintenance is changing. What changes have taken place?

The first two changes took effect on 27 October 2008. These changes mainly affect parents where the parent with the main day-to-day care of the child is claiming benefit: • All parents are now able to choose between a child maintenance arrangement using the CSA or making a private agreement with the other parent. Previously, parents with the main day-to-day care who were claiming benefit had to arrange child maintenance using the CSA. • Parents with the main day-to-day care can now keep up to £20 per week of any child maintenance received before it affects benefits. Previously, some parents were allowed to keep up to £10 per week. Read more about how child maintenance has changed and how child maintenance affects benefits.
