Earlier Eee BIOS revisions did not run the ports at USB 2.0 speeds. Flashing to the latest stable BIOS (as of 2007-11-16, this is 0401) enables USB 2.0 speeds. Also note the “OS Installation” setting in the BIOS can be set to “Start” for USB1.1 and “Finish” for USB2.0 speeds. The webcam does not work on “Start” aka USB1.1 because the bandwidth of the webcam exceeds the USB1.1 specification.
