Many institutions are implementing PeopleSoft. Seven of the ten CIC (Big 10) institutions are implementing one or more of the PeopleSoft systems, including some Student, some HRMS, and some Financials. Over 400 institutions of higher education across the nation are implementing PeopleSoft. There are some problems, especially in the areas of performance and management of upgrades. IU is working with the other Big 10 schools and PeopleSoft to address these and some improvements have been seen. With any large systems implementation, and the accompanying reengineering of business processes, there will be hurdles and obstacles that will be encountered. We have learned much from our sister institutions implementations, but as we implement, we will encounter problems too. The implementation should be viewed as iterative, addressing bug fixes and additional functionality over time.
