If numbers appear to be out of sequence in an Access field it is probably because the data type for that field is set to “text” rather than to “number”. When numbers are entered in a text field, Accesss does not necessarily interpret them as numeric values so they may sort inaccurately. To have numbers sorted numerically, open the table in design view and change the data type for that field to “number” instead of “text.” Save the change and return to Datasheet View. In Datasheet View, sort the field in ascending order, then save the table and its changes.
