Ive been invited to a vocal workshop. What will happen?
You will attend a two-hour workshop with one of our vocal tutors. They will ask you to prepare one piece that you are happy to perform in front of a group of other applicants; this can be in any style, but ideally should be something of approximately Grade 8 level and that shows your aptitude in classically trained performance. The workshop will focus on vocal and movement games, warm-up exercises, and interpretation. Each person will have the opportunity to sing to the group (usually 7-10 singers), and will be accompanied at the piano by one of our own pianists. Singers have told us they really enjoy working as a group, as it puts them at their ease. You will receive a letter detailing the vocal tutors general impression of your performance skills within about a week of the audition.
