It seems that Jonathan plays mostly Trad Jazz. Why?

Jonathan enjoys many styles of jazz, but all his teachers agree that he should learn the “roots” of jazz before performing other pieces. He can easily adapt any of the jazz standards he plays for other styles, but does most of his performing in the Trad, Classic Swing or Dixieland genres.
