It seems my DEC Alpha won get synchronized. Whats the problem?

(According to John Sager) The interrupt frequency for DEC Alpha is 1024Hz. According to Section 3.2 the value of tick is 977s. Unfortunately 1024*977 is 1000448, giving an intrinsic frequency error of 448PPM, even for a perfect crystal.[3] As not all versions of the Linux kernel and of NTP daemons can handle such a large frequency error, there may be a problem. Watch out whether your frequency seems to get stuck at some magical value (See Section 8.1). Trying the latest versions might help.
