Elites may be more expensive from an initial purchase price perspective when you look only at the total attack/defense points. However, TJ has stated (and tests have confirmed) that elites will last much longer (about 10x longer than soldiers, and 5x longer than knights/pikes), and do more damage in battle. A: Quite simply, APA is your Attack Per Acre ratio (Total Attack Score divided by your total acreage) and DPA is your Defense Per Acre ratio (Total Defense Score divided by your total acreage).
