It’s simply not true to say that only black people can work with black people. If there are language issues then interpreters can be provided. If there is a concern that offence may be caused unintentionally due to lack of awareness of an individual’s religious customs or culture the simple answer is to check it out with the individual concerned and their family. To assume that a black colleague should specialise in working with black people fails to recognise the diversity within the ethnic minority community. Diversity with regards to religion, race and culture.
