Doppler is a mobile diagnostic study of the veins. It requires bringing a 300 pound ultrasound machine to the patient to evaluate for clots in the veins. Slow healing ulcerations, cold feet, diminished foot pulses requires bringing a 6 pound machine to the patient bedside for blood flow analysis to the ankles. The doctor needs to be specific as to what he is looking for. Insurance carriers require symptoms to correlate with testing.
