Isn JROTC just for students interested in the military service?
JROTC is not just for students planning to enter the military. The majority of JROTC cadets never enter the military. The course provides a lot of useful information about our military forces, but the real result of taking this elective in high school is to teach or refine your leasership, teamwork, and communication skills and help young people to be better citizens. The course also provides many opportunities to compete on a high school team wth four teams sponsored by JROTC. They are: the Drill, Color Guard, PT, Academic/Leadership, and the marksmanship team. These teams compete all over Texas. JROTC cadets are required to participate in our annual Military Ball (a fun-filled formal social event similiar to a junior-senior prom), local parades, fundraisers and service learning projects throutout the local community.
