Isn’t it wrong to call yourself “Rabbi” in light of Matthew 23:8?
Let’s take a look at Yeshua’s teaching in Matthew 23:8-12: “Do not be called Rabbi; for One is your Teacher, and you are all brothers. Do not call anyone on Earth your father; for One is your Father, He who is in Heaven. Do not be called leaders; for One is your Leader, that is, Messiah. But the greatest among you shall be your servant. Whoever exalts himself shall be humbled; and whoever humbles himself shall be exalted.” One of the most important principles that will help us correctly interpret the Word of God is: “If the literal sense makes sense, seek no other sense.” The Word of God is to be understood in its historical/grammatical context. If a passage makes literal sense historically and grammatically, then that is what it means. However, if the literal sense does not make sense, we should seek a non-literal sense.
