Isn’t it risky to get food from strangers?
Sure. It can be risky to do pretty much anything. Seriously, though, you always have the option of meeting the people at dinner collective, and quietly deciding to go home with the food you brought yourself. If you don’t feel like eating the food others have brought, for whatever reasons, you don’t have to. But I can speak from the experience of having been in dinner collectives for a while, and never having gotten food that was unsafe.
