Not if you wan’t to understand what the author intends to say. You may think you are seeing something different than everyone else, but it is understanding author’s intent of the writing that is the only accurate way to read a message. That means that there is only one accurate interpretation of the Bible. That interpretation is God’s interpretation. Too often people try to interpret the Bible to mean what they want it to say. If everyone had their own interpretation, how do you think that the one who wrote it would feel? The Bible says about itself: “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not rely on your own understanding; think about Him in all your ways, and He will guide you on the right paths.” – Proverbs 3:5-6 (HCSB) If we are to not trust in our own understanding, then we should rely on what we are told in the Bible and take it for what it says, not for what we think it should mean.
