Isn ethanol useful as an oxygenate replacement for MTBE?

A lot of the same questions/criticisms come up again and again, so I am finally being prompted to do something I have been meaning to do for a long time: Write a FAQ, where my position is summed up concisely, and is understandable by anyone. This is a work in progress, so if you can think of something that should be addressed, please speak up. I am going to throw them out there as I do them, and I will clean them up later.
