Isn cosmetic surgery just vanity?
Although the desire for cosmetic surgery is widely accepted these days, there are some people who still hold this view. The answer to this question is that in the vast majority of cases a person does not consider surgery unless they strongly feel it will enhance their self-confidence and/or self esteem, especially where the individual is acutely self-conscious about a particular area of concern. In addition, it can provide practical improvements in everyday functions, such as a breast reduction reducing shoulder pain and increasing mobility. Also, the improved appearance and boosted confidence of a post-surgery client naturally creates an impressive personal demeanour – both inside and out – which can only be a benefit in the work place, at social gatherings and in life generally. Cosmetic surgery is not simple vanity; it provides real psychological, physical and social benefits.
