Isn classical music copyright-free because its so old?
No. This is a common myth about classical music. Read about this and other myths. In order for a recording to be free from copyright, it must have been recorded over 50 years ago. And for the composition to be public domain, the composer must have been dead more than 70 years. Our recordings were made more recently than 50 years ago, and some composers are still alive.
