Isn’t cedar wood treated?
Cedar wood does not need to be treated. Cedar contains a natural oil which serves as a rot abatement similar to creosote (creosote is a man-made coal-tar distillate, a complex mixture of organic compounds, largely hydrocarbons). Cedar wood also contains a number of natural organic compounds, including thujaplicins, that give off its distinctive cedar aroma that makes the wood highly unattractive to insects, moths and other pests.
