iSeries / AS400 FAQ : Programming : CL : Where can I find the list of messages I can monitor?

In the “olden” days, this information could be found in the Programming Reference Summary (SX41-4720-01) in a chapter titled “Error Messages that can be Monitored”. It’s chapter 8 for the V3R7 version of the manual. Sometime after that, IBM, in their absolutely infallible wisdom, decided it was better to remove this chapter and to place this information in the help text of the command. Prompt the CL command, press F1 for help and F2 for extended help. The monitorable messages are at the end. Answer courtesy Dan Bale via MIDRANGE-L 10 May 2001 Go to this website http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/pubs/html/as400/v4r5/ic2924/index.htm, click on Site Map, scroll down to Programming and click on Control Language(CL), then click on OS/400 commands, and then choose Alphabetical listing of commands. You can click on each command and it will give you the info you need.
