Is Zoysia good for a front yard in California?
Yes zoysia can become dormant in the winter and turn brown. However, zoysia grass is hardy to 35 degrees. It is a perennial grass which goes dormant every year during the winter months and returns in the spring. Any grass does need to be protected from high acid conditions by adding lime to the grass it will keep the grass in good condition. Follow the instructions on the bag of lime found at any local garden center.Keep the leaves from the olive tree cleaned up. The grass will die out from the lack of sun due to the leaf cover.
