Is ZoOmega-3 an ethyl ester form of fish oil, or a TG form?
ZoOmega-3 is produced through molecular distillation during the manufacturing process. Since triglycerides do not fractionate well, they are first transformed to ethyl esters and then fractionated. This assures an exceptionally clean source of omega-3 fatty acids. No one has presented peer-reviewed and published science to support the claim being made by some companies that the TG form of fish oil is 300% more absorbable than ethyl ester forms. At this point there is no science to suggest that the ethyl ester form of fish oil to be toxic either. In fact, the FDA approved Omacor, which is also an ethyl ester highly concentrated fish oil, because their studies proved it to be effective and completely safe. Omacor is being sold as a pharmaceutical because some insurance companies will cover the $120 per month cost as a pharmaceutical drug instead of an over-the-counter product not because it could be toxic to the liver.
