Is Zoloft good for anxiety & panic attacks (when stopping Benzos)?
If you wish to stop taking Xanax it will take alittle time as you must wean off it slowly. If you have a psychiatrist I would speak with him or her about Paxil. It is an antidepressant anti anxiety medication. If you have been suffering from these kind of panic attacks for along time you may need to be on something for a longer period of time. Antidepressants are not addictive but again when wanting to stop taking them You must and I mean must wean off of them as well. You can have nasty side effects if you try to stop any of these types of medications cold turkey. I would also advise cognitive behavioural therapy. The combination of the Paxil and the therapy are excellent. Your Doctor may want you to try cognitive behaviour therapy alone as you wean of of the xanax. Paxil is classified as an antidepressant anti anxiety medication which works quite effectively. Each person is different not all medications work for everyone.
