IS YEAR 2000 A LEAP YEAR?
A year is a leap year if: • It is evenly divisible by 4, unless • It is evenly divisible by 100, unless • It is evenly divisible by 400. Thus, 1600, 2000, and 2400 are leap years; 1800, 1900, 2100, 2200 are not leap years, and all other years divisible by 4 are leap years, such as 1992, 1996, 2004, 2008, etc. All other years are not leap years. A program must recognize that February 29 follows February 28 in a leap year and that the year has 366 days and that in all non-leap years, March 1 follows February 28 and the year has 365 days. Days of the week must also be correctly computed in all years.
