Is yawning contagious? If so please explain from medical point of view?

Yawning is often a response by the body to increase intake of oxygen. If your body is well-ventilated, seeing someone yawn will not make you yawn as well. To prove this you can try breathing rapidly while watching someone yawn, and you will not yawn. However often without our knowledge we may be slightly low on oxygen, so when you see someone yawn it acts like a signal for the body to double check the oxygen levels. And if the oxygen level is even slightly low, it will cause you to yawn.
