Fake? No. Planned? Yes. Yeah, wrestling is planned, but we still like it. You see, matches can have predetermined outcomes and promos can be rehearsed, punches and kicks can be faked, but you can’t fake picking someone up above your head and throwing them or jumping off of a 30 ft scaffold (as in Jeff Hardy)! So, sure, we know its not real, and we like it anyway. Real fans know that modern American professional wrestling is not just about putting two people in the ring and letting them beat each other to a bloody pulp, but its about storytelling. The way that I like to think about it is this, each night the WWE puts on a play. This play has something for everyone: beefy guys in little more than underwear, busty women in sometimes less than underwear, relationships, rivalries, family, love, hatred, the list goes on and one.
