Is working as an assitant and personal assistant for stockbrokers a sleazy Job?
Not a big fan of “personal assistants” but I can speak for sales assistants, and there is a BIG difference, not only in job description but also IQ requirements. A “personal assistant” has to look good, a sales assistant has to be good. A good “sales assistant” in the brokerage business is one of the biggest assets the brokerage firm can have. Based on my 45+ years in the business I have found that a broker is among the dumbest things walking upright but their sales assistants are what makes them a necessity and prevents them from hurting themselves. Without a good sales assistant most brokers would be totally lost. Good sales assistants also have the same registrations that sales people have and often handle the customers in a more professional manner. They are more in-tuned to the customers’ needs and have a better understanding of brokerage operation than most stock brokers. They can fix or break trades, workout many operational problems on their own and can get things done faster,
