Is WordCamp the same as BarCamp?
No, these are separate events. In 2009, there was an open WordPress forum at BarCamp but wasn’t organized like an official WordCamp (see WordCamp.org). This year’s WordCamp is comparable to last year’s (2010) and the ones that have been happening around the country for a few years. WordCamp’s format is to bring in professional speakers with prepared presentations, organized for maximum benefit to the attendees.
