Is wireless networks safe?
Out of the box, they are NOT safe! Wireless Routers and devices are designed to connect with no fuss meaning there are no safety precautions being used such as WEP or WAP encryption. Without getting into a whole lot of technical jargon, it is essential for you to know the benefits and risks of using a wireless network. Simply put, a wireless network requires no wires to network devices in your home or business. So no holes in the walls or paying high fees for technicians to fiche wires through your home or building. The down side is if you can hook up wirelessly to your network, others can too. This is potentially dangerous. Hackers or the bad guys, drive around with a wireless Laptop hunting for unsecured wireless networks to get into. This is also known as War-Driving. Many clubs have formed and has practically become a sport. In order to keep unwanted users of the network, special configurations has to be made to all your wireless devices to make War-Driving or hacking into your net
