Is wireless broadband Internet access secure?
Not if you don’t encrypt it, and the same is true for cable, dial-up, DSL, and all other Internet services. All data on the Internet can be captured and recorded, regardless of the type of connection it originates on. When secure communication is required, you must encrypt your data. When you visit a secure web site, typically identified by a picture of a lock in your browser window, traffic to and from that site is encrypted. Traffic over a secure virtual private network (VPN) is also encrypted. When encrypted traffic is captured, it appears like gibberish. Hackers cannot see the data behind the encryption. This is always true, even when using wireless broadband.
