You can’t compare them statistically because the rules of then and now are different, they play different positions, the era is different and the earnings are different. It is not fair to say that there were no other comparable centers in the era of Chamberlain. Chamberlain grew himself in that era and that was his luck. Perhaps if he had grown in the era of Jabbar, ONeil, Sabonis… and have had all the medical and nutritional support these have had, he would have shown his talent more and would have been stronger and swifter. What you are left with is dominance and fame. Basketball is not a one on one dunking or three point competition as much as it tends to be. It must be contemplated as team sport. Besides statistical display, players may also be capable of bringing out the best of a team. Perhaps the only way to compare is through medals.
