Is white magic evil?
Magic is a tool. This is similar to asking “is fire evil”. To a person whose house is on fire, then yes, it is a horrible thing. To the blacksmith who makes his livelihood by the forge, then no, without it he would starve. Any magic can be used for protection or harm. Harm itself can be a form of protection. Furthermore, “evil” distinctly changes depending upon one’s point of view and the culture one is living in. So, if you were to attempt to hurt someone who had done you no wrong, and if such an action was completely at odds with your way of life and your culture’s laws, then yes your action would be evil. However, the magic itself would remain simply magic. As with everything else in this life it deserves respect and careful study before use.
