Is WGUC affiliated with the University of Cincinnati? Does WGUC receive money from them?

0

No. While WGUC began in 1960 as a department of the University of Cincinnati, it is no longer affiliated with UC. In 1994, WGUC became a separate tax-exempt non-profit organization: Cincinnati Public Radio, Inc. (CPR). UC maintained ownership of the station’s license and contracted with CPR, Inc. to manage the station with WGUC’s Community Advisory Board becoming the Board of Trustees of CPR, Inc. Then in 2002, UC transferred ownership of WGUC’s broadcast license to CPR, Inc. As a result, WGUC no longer receives any financial assistance from the University of Cincinnati.
