Is water strictly a chemical substance or does it have distinct physical properties?
Some of the clearest delineation of this question that I have worked out yet comes in the following article: Rebutting Scientific American A recent column in Scientific American by Michael Shermer proposes that certain energized waters available on the internet should be treated according to what he calls Menckens Maxim”one horselaugh is worth ten thousand syllogisms.” He uses as an example the claims of Golden C Lithium Structured Water, and the claims do sound so far-reaching as to be preposterous and at very least, nearly impossible for the average person to verify. This water is advertised as emitting a “signature one-of-a kind healing.” He quotes an advertisement for it: “Using an instrument to measure wavelengths of light the water registers 250,000 angstroms of light.” Using what instrument? There is no mention and skeptics need much more. Purveyors of such substances need to assume that we can digest more scientific detail if we wish to, and make it available. The claims for “t
