Is water softened with potassium chloride fatal to any freshwater fish?

< There are no fresh water areas that I am aware of that have high levels of potassium. The tolerable levels may be species specific. I think before I invested a large some of money into any fish I would set up a quarantine tank and try it out. Just off the top of my head I don't think it is good for them.-Chuck> Thanks!!
