Is water mist as good as a DuPont™ FM-200® system?
No. Water mist is not a gas, and will not penetrate all portions of an area like DuPont™ FM-200® gas will. Extensive testing has shown that water mist systems perform poorly on small fires and are best suited for the suppression of large fires. Therefore, water mist is not well suited for small or shielded or obstructed fires, exactly the type of fires most DuPont™ FM-200® systems are designed to extinguish. It’s also crucial to remember that water is electrically conductive and can be extremely damaging to sensitive electronic equipment or valuable assets.
