Is water from an outside source needed?

To the extent that there is such a need, water requirements are satisfied with untreated pond or river water. Water is needed at startup to fill the IBR tanks, but once operation begins, a portion of the water freed from the waste itself is used to adjust the consistency of the feed to the IBR tanks. In routine operation a small amount of untreated water from an outside source is also needed to mix with polymer in the post-digestion solids-separation step.
