Is VERA the same as Discontinued Service Retirement (DSR)?

VERA is not the same as DSR. VERA is voluntary in nature and is offered in advance of RIF letters being delivered to employees. Discontinued Service Retirement is used when employees who otherwise would be separated are eligible to retire with 20 years of service at age 50 or 25 years of service at any age.
