Is VDL compatible with “Sibelius First?

Released in Summer 2008, Sibelius First is a scaled down version of Sibelius 5. While it provides a great way for people to get started with all Sibelius has to offer, it will not be a good choice for Virtual Drumline users. It doesn’t support custom percussion mappings that are important for VDL instruments to display properly in a score. Also, it doesn’t support AU/VST (like Sibelius 5 does). This means that you wouldn’t be able to run Virtual Drumline instruments as a plug-in directly inside of Sibelius. If you’re just getting started, and want to use Sibelius notation software with Virtual Drumline, the full version of Sibelius 5 is the way to go. You may download a demo copy of Sibelius from their website here.
