Is Vampire Academy a good read?
Yes, yes, yes, a thousand times over YES! Sorry for being a little too enthusiastic, but I love the Vampire Academy series to death. The main character Rose is one of my all-time favorite heroines for so many reasons, like her strong will and how passionate she can be when it comes to something she cares about. In a genre with all these weak-willed, have-to-be-saved heroines, I love having one that can save herself. It’s so far removed from Twilight, especially when it comes to romance. There is some romance in Vampire Academy, but it’s not the focus; it’s a little bit subtle for the first book and even though it gets taken up a step in later books of the series, it’s never all about the love. There are actual plots with well-written (in my opinion) fight scenes. Read it and unless if you like it, make sure to pick up the other books in the series.
