Is Valproic Acid, Valproate, or Divalproex a Generic Version of Stavzor?

0

Both valproic acid and divalproex sodium (Depakote®, Depakote ER) are transformed into valproate in the digestive tract; valproate is a medical term that can be used to describe any of these medications (it is not a specific drug). Valproic acid is the active ingredient in Stavzor (as well as in the non-delayed release version, Depakene®). Stavzor is not equivalent to Depakote, Depakote ER, Depakene, or generic versions of these medications.
